Espina Verde

Arequipa, Peru

The design for a 6 mile river parkway is intended to better connect the city airport and surrounding neighborhoods to the downtown and each other. The design includes the tunneling of a major roadway into the downtown to expedite traffic while also creating a much needed opportunity for a vibrant new waterfront park, Parque Chili. Other proposed amenities along Espina Verde include a cultural and environmental discovery center, scenic views of the rural landscape surrounding the city, hiking trails and opportunities for outdoor exploration, recreation parks, a canal restaurant district, an amusement park, scenic overlooks and cultural destinations, and a water park.
