Village of Philadelphia Riverfront Park

Philadelphia, New York

The vision for a Village Riverfront Park stemmed from a Village planning project focused on improving the quality of life in the Village and attracting more residents and businesses. Recommendations for creating a riverfront park include adding a gateway entrance on North Main Street, a beach area, a canoe and kayak launch, open lawn area for outdoor events and picnicking, a playground and spray park, a pergola, a bandstand, fishing docks and boardwalks along Indian River, a warming hut for skating and cross-country skiing, and a series of trails with interpretive signage to connect the different habitats, and trail connections to local waterfalls and proposed overlooks. The park would greatly improve active and passive recreation opportunities while providing a place for community events and festivals, thereby serving local residents and acting as a regional draw for the Village of Philadelphia.
